Doctor Phaichit Warachit, the Director-General of Medical Sciences, said in a disclosure that the Ministry of Public Health, represented by the Department of Medical Sciences, had conducted a preliminary study of the toxicity of medicinal herb Pueraria mirifica the past period of seven months for consumer protection. The above study outcome points out that the dose of 10 mg/kg/day of Pueraria mirifica does not cause toxicity to arise in the experimental animals, while the dose of 100 mg/kg/day generates some irregularities in the white mice, so the Department of medical Sciences proposes that the dose of Pueraria mirifica likely to be safe in the Thais, whose average weight is about 50 kilograms, should be one not exceeding 50-100 mg/day, given that human beings are about 5-10 times more sensitive to toxicity than mice.
